As a key member of the NHS Digital Academy faculty, I contributed to the design and delivery of the flagship Digital Health Leadership programme, supporting the development of future digital leaders across health and care. I worked in partnership with Health Education England, Imperial College London and the University of Edinburgh to deliver a high-impact, blended learning curriculum aligned with national digital transformation priorities. My role involved designing and facilitating modules focused on leadership, digital maturity, and systems change, while also supporting participant development through academic supervision, coaching, and assessment. I played a key role in enhancing learner engagement and improving the experience for diverse, cross-profession cohorts. The programme has helped build national capability in digital leadership and supported graduates into senior roles driving innovation across the NHS.

I led the development of the National Digital Maternity Leaders Programme at Imperial College London, a pioneering initiative designed in response to the Ockenden Review to drive safer, more transparent, and digitally enabled maternity services. Working in partnership with NHS England, I co-designed and validated a curriculum to equip 270 emerging leaders across the country with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead digital transformation in maternity care. The programme combined national policy insight, digital innovation, and leadership development to support a system-wide shift towards more responsive and data-informed care for women and families.

Working across both the Higher Specialist Scientist Training Programme (HSST) and the NHS Leadership Academy’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme, I play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders across the UK, in my role as an Associate Professor at the University of Manchester,
On the HSST programme, I support the professional development of NHS Clinical Scientists by guiding their engagement with innovation, systems thinking, and evidence-based leadership. My teaching helps bridge scientific expertise with strategic leadership, enabling these specialists to drive service transformation and quality improvement within the NHS.
Within the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme, I contribute to the leadership development of mid to senior-level NHS professionals, with a strong emphasis on compassionate, inclusive leadership and the connection between culture, systems, and patient care. I assess and coach participants as they apply leadership theories to real-world challenges, strengthening their ability to lead across complex health and care systems.
Through these programmes, I am proud to support the development of a resilient, future-ready NHS leadership workforce grounded in systems thinking, patient-centred care, and continuous improvement.
